Six Sentence Sunday – Ew! #SixSunday

Hey, hey, hey …

I’ve been following a few blogs that do this “Six Sentence Sunday” thing for a while now, and have finally decided to jump on the bandwagon. I thought it was just something bloggers did (which isn’t wrong), but there’s actually a homebase! Who knew?

Anyway, with Healer’s Touch due to be released in January, I thought I might work on garnering some interest.

Llew walks the line between life & death

So, here goes a snippet that I hope works out of context:

“I can fight,” said Llew.

“You throw a letter opener mighty fine,” said Jonas. “But there’s a difference between a back-road scuffle and a battlefield.”

“What do they want with me, if not to fight?”

“They want your sons,” said Aris.

“My—? But I don’t … ew!”

So there you go. If you are swinging by here from the Six Sentence Sunday site – Welcome! (Actually, a big welcome to everybody). This is a snippet from my upcoming Fantasy novel, Healer’s Touch, which has a good dollop of Romance, and a touch of Steampunk.

Here’s a blurb:

Llew has a gift. Her body heals itself from any injury—but at a cost to anyone nearby.

In a country fearful of magic, freeing yourself from the hangman’s noose by wielding forbidden power brings dangers of its own. After dying and coming back, Llew drops from the gallows into the hands of Jonas: the man carrying the knife with the power to kill her—permanently.

The last of his warrior race, Jonas is haunted by memories of his loved ones. At his side, the cursed knife that took their lives, which also acts as a cruel reminder of his pain. Jonas has learned the hard way that caring for others means their death.

Jealous of his half-brother’s celebrated strength and speed, Braph created the device that gives him the power to perform magic, any magic. But it needs fuel—the blood of a healer …

Deb E was born in New Zealand’s North Island, but her parents corrected that within months, moving south to Dunedin and staying there. Childhood nights were spent falling asleep to cover versions of Cliff Richard and the Shadows and other Rock ’n Roll classics played by her father’s band, and days were spent dancing to 45 LPs. Many of her first writing experiences were copying down song lyrics. She graduated to scientific reports when she studied a nematophagus fungus in the Zoology department of the University of Otago, trading all traces of popularity for usefulness… then traded both for fiction. Hi! Welcome to six sentence Sunday. 🙂 I’ve been doing it, too. Congratulations on your upcoming release! Steampunk plus magic (and romance) is fantastic. Great six! Llew is an intriguing heroine. Looking forward to more!

I like how she figured out his meaning. LOL Good luck with your release. January 1 is right around the corner! And welcome to SSS.

Apologies for late reply (I thought I had – duh!).
