Austria is sounding promising to me, already … It’s so hard to judge from these snippets, though.

Republic of Moldova sounds fun. They might make it past the first round.

I’m often a fan of the Mexican sound. Whether they make it to the top ten will depend on the overall competition, of course.

Oh, the US doesn’t sound too bad – quite sexy. We shall see.

Ooh, but Uruguay, that bass . . .

Gosh, that King Cannons song sounds fun . . . oh, bummer, can’t vote for that one (o;

Sorry, Cyprus, but that sounds like what I’d call “Mr Plod” drumming . . . always a turn off. The rest would have to be pretty bad for me to get past that.

Mmm, Turkey. Nice, by the sounds.

Sweden . . . more plodding.

Vietnam – upbeat.

I admit, the Asian countries don’t often feature highly in my top 10, but Malaysia . . . nice.

It will be interesting to see, after listening to the full songs several times, which of these that stand out in these brief snippets, actually make it to my top 10.

Indonesia . . . yummy.

Dominican Republic – I nearly always vote for. I hear a promise, again. We shall see.

Quite like the German snippet, but it does sound like a lot of other rock.

Serbia (RS), nice.

Iceland and Ireland . . . pleasant.

Russia – plodding.

I can see Portugal making it past my first round.

Woah – Japan! Just, woah! Could be good.

Macedonia (MK) – plodding.

Montenegro – could be a guilty pleasure. We shall see.

As you can see, I can already hear more than ten songs with potential. I have to pick just ten. And, then I have to rank those ten. Eep!

Anyway, here’s the full King Cannon’s vid:

Deb E was born in New Zealand’s North Island, but her parents corrected that within months, moving south to Dunedin and staying there. Childhood nights were spent falling asleep to cover versions of Cliff Richard and the Shadows and other Rock ’n Roll classics played by her father’s band, and days were spent dancing to 45 LPs. Many of her first writing experiences were copying down song lyrics. She graduated to scientific reports when she studied a nematophagus fungus in the Zoology department of the University of Otago, trading all traces of popularity for usefulness… then traded both for fiction. Mum of one human & four fur-babies.
