Days off are good

I very nearly took a day off from my writing yesterday. I say ‘very nearly’ because I never can totally switch off from it. In fact, I wrote about 16 words. Actually, I wrote more than that, but I deleted the vast majority. And today, I am going to delete those 16.

At 5.30am this morning, when I was woken by my son, I had some ideas for the next little bit of dialogue. It was exactly what I was looking to come up with yesterday.

I admit, sometimes when I get Jonas and Llew together, I let things get a little bit sappy. And even I don’t love that stuff. I sometimes forget that Jonas has a bark. And teeth. But early this morning, I heard his growl. And that is going into the story.

Please don’t forget to VOTE FOR ME! I really need a new computer. Something more baby-proof.

Deb E was born in New Zealand’s North Island, but her parents corrected that within months, moving south to Dunedin and staying there. Childhood nights were spent falling asleep to cover versions of Cliff Richard and the Shadows and other Rock ’n Roll classics played by her father’s band, and days were spent dancing to 45 LPs. Many of her first writing experiences were copying down song lyrics. She graduated to scientific reports when she studied a nematophagus fungus in the Zoology department of the University of Otago, trading all traces of popularity for usefulness… then traded both for fiction. Mum of one human & four fur-babies.
